In just a little over a month since returning back to school for the spring semester, S.T.A.R. has really been keeping busy!
So far our members have enjoyed informative speaker nights. Katie Hansen from the Urbana Business Association (http://www.urbanabusiness.com/ ) spoke to our members about her experience as a former RST student, interning, to her current position as an event coordinator at the Urbana Business Association. Members in attendance earned great insight as they are preparing to emerge into the field soon, as well as learned about great monthly networking events in Urbana. If you're interested in finding out more about these networking events, contact S.T.A.R. at uofistar.gmail.com.
LoriKay Paden, faculty at the University spoke to members about consulting in the field. Whether members had an interest in recreation, sport, or tourism, LoriKay was able to advise to all! We are excited that someone with as much valuable experience as LoriKay was able to meet with our members!
Up next is Ben Brownback, a former U of I student, who now holds the position of CEO of DAV Productions, a media and event company that he founded and is based out of Las Vegas. Check out this amazing company he built, and come meet with him Wednesday, March 3 at 6:00 in 114 Huff.

Ready to Kick Off Another Semester!
S.T.A.R. is very excited about the upcoming semester both professionally and socially! Meetings for the semester will begin again Wednesday, January 27th. All majors are welcome to attend. S.T.A.R. will also be accepting new members at this time. The membership fee for new members is $10 and provides members with a "S.T.A.R." t-shirt, as well as the opportunity to attend professional development nights, participate in a semester long professional project (greater resume builder!), and participate in S.T.A.R. social events.
S.T.A.R. is also both excited and proud to announce that they will be working with the Respiratory Health Association of Metropolitan Chicago to run an event on campus. A variety of skill sets will be utilized in this professional project- be sure to find out how you can get involved!
